Look of the Day: Purple Opulence

As you all know, this weekend I checked out Bolat African Cuisine and had a great time. I told y'all I'm not playing any games with the outfits this fall! I went thrifting a few weeks ago and snagged this jazzy deep purple dress from Village Discount Outlet here in Chicago for a spanking $4!

This number is so simple, yet so sexy. It reminds me of something the character Gina Waters-Payne would have worn on the iconic 1990's television show "Martin". Yes, this piece is so 1990's. The dress was created by a brand called "All That Jazz: A Chorus Line Company". I think it's made out of polyester fabric, but the outerior has a great velvet-like texture and look to it, not to mention this deep purple.

Just looking at the dress, I knew gold plated accessories would look the best. When I was working at a shoe boutique a few years ago, I purchased this spicy statement piece necklace and wore it with this dress. The great thing about wearing simple pieces like this "All That Jazz" dress is that wearing a bold statement piece adds so much character to the look. I also added an earring cuff on one side, stud earring on another, my gold plated watch, and a chunky, vintage inspired gold plated bracelet that I actually got from a beauty supply store a few years ago.

I don't usually wear heels when I'm off the runway, but I stepped out of my comfort zone and rocked my black, leather chunky, platform heels, with my vintage, black, leather Dooney & Bourke backpack.

I was debating on wearing one of my wigs since it's wig season aka "protective style" season if you're a naturalista, but I decided to put my hair in a cute up-do with a few combs to keep the afro-do in tact. For my make-up, I wanted to go for something a bit dramatic and festive for the autumn season. I headed on down to YouTube and applied the "Fall Inspired Make-up" tutorial by YouTuber, Uche Natori. I'll list the products I used below.

I know the season just started, but I think this is going to be one of my favorite looks. Can't wait to show you all the next look!
