Look of the Day: Spring Burgundy

I've come to the realization that springtime in Chicago *sigh* it can't really be enjoyed. Peep game: In March and April, the weather is still icky and by the time we get to May, folks are talking about summer haha! It's cool though. I just have to step my game up even more to be able to travel-work during winter and fool's spring. With all that being said, this Sunday gave some amazing weather!

It was 70 something degrees, so y'all know y'all good sis had to pop out. Unfortunately I caught a cold (from one of the children I work with smh), my cycle was poppin', and I had a slight toothache. Thanks to natural herbs and essential oils, I was able to push through slightly!

I've been wanting to rock this look for some time now. To me? It actually fits more of a winter-autumn style, but y'all already know I will rock whatever whenever! I had already planned to rock the gold studded blazer-sweater, bodysuit (yes, that's actually a dancer leotard and not a top), and hat together, but I added the patchwork mini skirt for a springy vibe.

I remember mom dukes used to always encourage me to wear hats to church back in the back-back days. I hated it. Ain't it funny how some of the things we hate, we end up loving in the future? I'm at the point to wear I LOVE hats, specifically vintage, sequin adorned, church, trophy hats from the 1970's and 1980's.

I honestly think I could have came through better with the shoes. These are a cute pair of Naturalizer flats I found while thrifting last autumn. They're so essential for wardrobes and I had to have 'em. I'm not too heavy into rocking too much black because I'm a big fan of all things colorful, but for this look I think they work.

I grabbed these fancy floral tights from H&M's clearance rack a while ago too. Even though tights and pantyhouse give me absolute hell, being that they're so easy to be torn, I still love colorful, patterned ones. These tights went so well with this look and really added a touch of spring.

Until the next lewk, smooches!

  1. Bergundy is my color! Anything burgundy I will rock and this is a great look for Spring that makes that burgundy pop when so many others are wearing the brighter colors.

  2. I never thought about rocking burgundy in the Spring! You're giving me ideas. I love a good burgundy nail, lippie and statement piece. Now I want to try pairing it with a bright spring color.

  5. I was sold when I saw the hat. The rest of the outfit is cute and all but this hat is giving me so much life.
