Lifetime has just released the trailer for the controversial "Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B" movie coming this fall. Talk show host Wendy Williams has teamed up with the television network to produce this biopic based on the late singer's short life and music career. Although many fans of the songstress have stated for years that she needs a movie about her life, this film has been under fire since Aaliyah's family, the Haughtons, have not approved. Not only that, but none of Aaliyah's music will even be featured in the film due to copyright issues.

This definitely sounds disastrous, but I'm still going to watch because I'm curious to see how to film will turn out. Aaliyah will be portrayed by actress Alexandra Shipp since Zendaya has dropped out after controversy surrounding her mixed background. Mind you, neither of these girls look like Aaliyah at all, but we'll see how it turns out. Check out the trailer below:

Sis looks like she's playing dress up for Halloween. The movie will show on Lifetime November 15, 2014 at 8/7C.
