Pink has always been one of my most favorite colors. I mean, how could you not like it?! It's girly, vibrant, and simply everything and more! Last spring, I found this stylish pink Laura & Jayne Collection minimalist jumpsuit that was perfect for the spring season. It's originally from the late 70's/early 80's era with 50's/60's design too.

As much as I loved the simplicity of this beauty, I had to dress this look up. A blazer was going to be perfect for it. My sequined Leslie Fay Evenings 80's blazer hit this thang right on the nail! Pairing it with metallic gold toned J. Renee flats and a vintage shoulder bag and belt really made this look not only pop, but made her so suitable for an evening look.



This whole joint along with the shoot's backdrop gave me semi-casual disco vibes reminiscent of the late 70's/early 80's decade.

Back in March 2018 I came across this super dope two piece set at a thrift store. A whole, genuine leather Pelle New York jacket and matching skirt set. I knew then I was going to save it to wear to somebody's old school hip-hop concert. Fast forward to this past December and I graced the Nas and Erykah Badu concert with this throwback joint!



Anyone who knows me knows I love old school hip-hop. I mean...it goes with my love for vintage 20th century culture and history in general, so of course! I went with the late 80's/early 90's street theme that was very prominent in New York, the birthplace of hip-hop by way of Black American roots. Back in the day when emcees were rockin' drug dealer steelo with dookie chains, Kangol hats, and Gucci jackets. Think New Jack City, Dapper Dan, Rakim & Eric B., and every other hip-hop related artist during the era:

I was super stoked to see my two favorite artists perform live so the look had to be perfect. Only issue was, I wasn't feelin' the skirt portion of my two piece set at all. Chile. It was givin' all types of Pentecostal, passin' out Watchtowers vibes and I wasn't here for it one bit. Luckily, I have friends in fly places! Took this joint to my bff, designer Asil Nworb and she worked her magic and made the skirt into a pair of high waist shorts!




So I had to mix in something to pay homage to Ms. Badu. I rocked one of my shirts from my KLT Art line, celebrating her famous song "Tyrone". It's also one of my favorite illustrations that I've made before too.

This look was fun, funky, and fresh! I'm so excited to create another hip-hop throwback look and take it to another level.
