First Look: Tracee Ellis Ross Holiday Fashion Collection With JCPenney

Everyone's favorite girlfriend turned "Blackish" mom has teamed up with JCPenney for a holiday partnership. This collection has 45 pieces in the line and was designed by the actress herself. The price range is from $9 to $75 and is made for every body, literally. Sizes are in small to 3X. Take a look at some of the beautiful pieces in the collection:

JCPenney is so throwback, even the name is super "back in the day". That was the place to shop at back in the 1990's. Since the store isn't as popular as it once was, this collaboration would be a great idea for them to pick up steam. The collection will be in JCPenney stores and online November 12th.

Asil Nworb Slays Fashion for Men With Takashi Murukami Themed Jacket

Yes, we know, we know, it's autumn right now, but all of the best fashion designers are getting ready for spring and summer fashion. Chicago fashion designer Jelisa Brown of Asil Nworb Designs is well known for her stunning plus size designs, but she also creates men's fashion too.

The SAIC graduate is a huge fan of the late visual artist Jean Michel Basquiat and has used his work as a source of inspiration for some of her collections, so it's no surprise that she would also be inspired by Japanese pop artist Takashi Murukami. Like Basquiat, Murukami's work has been immersed in American popular culture and in commercial media. You've seen his work on the Louis Vuitton runway and he even designed Kanye West's sophomore album cover Graduation (2007).

From June to late September, the artist had an exhibition at the Modern Contemporary Art Museum here in Chicago called Takashi Murukami: The Octopus Eats Its Own Leg. Upon a visit to the exhibition, Brown became inspired and created this amazing, one of a kind jacket for recording artist Teddy Jackson.

Pumpkin Spice and Cinnamon Apple Pie: Autumn Bucket List

Happy Autumn! I have a feeling this shall be a great season although the weather has been very summery here in Chicago. I'm so excited for the fall that I cooked up an Autumn Bucket List. Check out all the fun things I have planned for the season:

Bake autumn themed, pumpkin, apple, and cinnamon filled cookies, cakes, pies, and other desserts.
Go to a pumpkin patch.
Make and drink vegan pumpkin spiced latte.
Cook comfort meals from Pinterest recipes.
Rock fabulous autumn themed fashion and makeup looks.
Take dope photography of autumn nature shots.
Learn how to knit.
Attend an opera show.
Sew.
Make and burn candles with autumn-y scents.
Decorate my place with faux autumn leaves.
Sip apple cider and hot cocoa in front of a fireplace while reading a book.
Can fruits.
Get fancy and go to the theater.
Attend fall festivals.
Rock protective styles.
Go to a farmer's market.
Take a walk in the forest preserve.
Shop for fall and winter clothes.
Attend an autumn formal party.
Blog while wrapped in a cozy blanket.
Make soaps and body butters
Go apple picking.
Dress super fancy and go to a jazz club on a Saturday night.
Attend a musical.

Look of the Day: Summertime Fly

I have to get as many as my summer looks posted before the end of the season haha! I wore this casual but fly look at the International Festival of Life aka the African Caribbean Fest back in June. Capleton, one of my favorite reggae artists was performing so I had to make an appearance.

I received this top as a gift from the Ivory Coast. The proper name of it has slipped my mind (and I'll update you all with it soon), but as you see it resembles the West African dashiki top. I love everything about this top from the vibrant colors to the its thick texture, which is a way to tell the authenticity of African attire.

It's a little roomy on me (I believe it's for men) so I tucked it in a pair of retro jean high waist shorts to give it a vintage-like feel.

I purchased this sassy little woven fabric purse and the wood and beaded snap belt this past spring and I thought both would be perfect additions to this look.

These shoes? Let me get into 'em real quick. I fell in love with these beauties at first sight. These cloth eyelet shoes are from the brand Lower East Side and resemble classic oxford shoes. They matches perfectly with my cloth purse.

My favorite thing about this look is the accessories. Accessories are always the icing and the cherry on top for any fashion ensemble. I love to take risks and mix and match beads, wood, shells, and anything else. Very earthy and natural which was the look I was going for.

Best of New York Fashion Week 2017 #NYFW #NYFW2017 #NYFWSS18

The annual New York Fashion Week has arrived in the Big Apple to serve your upcoming spring/summer looks. I'm seeing that lots of plaids, florals, deconstructed fabrics, and denim will be big in 2018 if you're into following fashion trends.
