Look of the Day: Houndstooth for Winter

Last Saturday, the weather was lovely in Chicago. 58 degrees and giving us Chicagoans all types of early spring time feels. I even had to hit up my favorite neighborhood, Hyde Park and visit Litehouse Whole Food Grill. Sadly, that's over right now, and the reality of 30 degree weather hit us this week. I had to take advantage of the almost-springtime weather and step out.

I wore this cute houndstooth dress I purchased in winter of 2015 at a Goodwill and I first wore it at the Pancakes and Booze Chicago art show I participated in last February. It's from Jessica Simpson's line and a great staple for the winter with a wool-like texture made out of acrylic. The dress is most likely from the early-mid 2000's era, but certainly has that vintage touch that I like. Plus, black and white houndstooth is always a great look for the season. Since it's still winter, I added a Maggy London Petites 3/4 quarter sleeved cardigan I grabbed from a Marshall's store a few years back.

And of course accessories must complete the look. I purchased a pair of oxford shoes from the thrift store on sale for a whopping $5. I wanted a "rockabilly" themed look, so I wore my red scarf in a Rosie the Riveter fashion along with a patent leather red chunky belt, "Motown" vinyl earring and gray tights for a contrast between the black and white theme.

This look has gotten me so excited for the spring time. All I'm seeing is looks like this!
