How could I not create a F.I.F. dedication post to the incomparable Fran Fine from the 1990's television show The Nanny? Fran Drescher starred on the show for six years as the lovable, quirky, and stylish Fran Fine, a Jewish fashionista from Flushing, New York. After breaking up with her boyfriend and attempting to sell cosmetics door to door, Fran Fine became nanny to the three children of British Broadway producer Maxwell Sheffield (later to be her husband).
Fran's character wowed audiences with her nasally "Queens" accent, her comedic adventures with the Sheffields, and of course her impeccable and memorable fashion looks. Fran dressed in everything from Moschino blazers to animal print mini skirts and snapped on every last look. Her looks were over the top for a nanny, and that's what made the character so bomb. Stylist Brenda Cooper contributed in choosing the most creative designer pieces for Fran Fine. She styled Drescher on a short lived sitcom called The Princess prior to the Nanny show. Fran told her if she'd ever get her own she, she would hire Cooper as her stylist. Sounds like a great job for both!
