Look of the Day: Apple Bottom Jeans, Boots With….No Fur But The Look Still Hits

Long time no post! But alas, another day another vintage fashion LOTD. It’s been yet another crazy summer’round these parts but at least this year I did get to step out more. And I’ve been stepping out in a very Y2K fashion at that!

I scored this pretty awesome vintage Apple Bottoms denim two piece set a few months back and it’s 2000’s perfection. I’m sure you OGs remember this line, but for the youngins, Apple Bottoms was a streetwear women’s clothing brand created by St. Louis rapper and entrepreneur Nelly in 2003. Back in the day, many rappers were getting in their money making bag by creating urban fashion brands.

Although the line’s last campaign was in 2010, Nelly did make mention that a rebrand would be happening. The Apple
bottoms website has even been created although there are no updates as of yet. Since Y2K fashion is trendy nowadays, brands like Baby Phat and Juicy Couture have re-emerged with modern pieces for the public. But for me? Nothing beats vintage!

Remember the 2007 Flo Rida song “Low” with the line “Apple Bottoms jeans, boots with the fur”? That’s definitely what this look is giving with my vintage Timberland boot heels. Although they don’t necessarily have fur, it’s still very much 2000’s. I loved the Motorola Razr flip phone addition to this alongside a throwback Dooney & Bourke handbag I’ve had since forever. Monogram purses were all the rage in the 00’s.

Denim was a big thing in the 2000’s. Remember Britney Spears & Justin Timberlake’s coordinating denim looks at the 2001 American Music Awards? Yeah. It was pretty serious! For this two piece set (sets were also pretty but and we’ve seen a return of them in fashion) it’s definitely the quality for me, a big reason why I’m so big on vintage everything. Of course for this look I had to have a same brand t-shirt. Found this baby on eBay with a rhinestone and gold design bold enough to compliment the stitching and to add some extra bling for throwback’s sake.

And the French manicure nails? C’mon now. Y’all know I live for details. Before all the intricate acrylic nail designs of today, in the 2000’s a basic French set was all the rage! We pay full homage to eras over here of course.

What early 2000’s clothing brand should I rock next?
