One of the highlights of growing up was catching reruns of the 1990's hit teen show Saved by the Bell. While I was still in diapers in the early 1990's when the show was at its peak, seeing the show in the early 2000's on Saturday mornings and afternoons was great. Hands down, I think this is one of the best teen shows ever made. One of the most memorable characters from the show was Lisa Turtle played by actress Lark Voorhies. Like her stylish late 1980's/early 1990's television counterparts Regine Hunter and Sandra Clark, Lisa Turtle is a member of the original "Bad & Boujee Crew".
Lisa Turtle was the fashionista of fictional Bayside High. Her parents were both surgeons so she had the money to effortlessly stay fly and stand out in the crowd. A gossip queen and lover of fashion, her journey with her friends included helping the main character Zack getting out of sticky situations, playing match maker, and dodging Screech's attempts to flirt and woo her (I've come to realize he was a major creep in a major way).
Lisa Turtle often gets compared to her fashionista counterpart, Hilary Banks from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (played by Karyn Parsons) when it comes to fashion. Although Ms. Turtle and Ms. Banks both had a similar early 90's valley girl steelo, I feel that Lisa's fashion was a lot more edgier than Hilary's. Hilary often played it safe with a uniformed hat and solid color blazer look, Lisa played around with colorblocking, fringes, patterns and plenty other fun looks.
Let's take a peep at all the iconic looks Lisa has blessed us with:

If you can't already tell by my fashion, Lisa Turtle is certainly one of my personal fashion icons. Whether casual or formal, Lisa was never afraid to play with color, accessorize with chunky earrings, and switch up themes from cowgirl looks to sailor vibes.
