Look of the Day: Summertime Fly

I have to get as many as my summer looks posted before the end of the season haha! I wore this casual but fly look at the International Festival of Life aka the African Caribbean Fest back in June. Capleton, one of my favorite reggae artists was performing so I had to make an appearance.

I received this top as a gift from the Ivory Coast. The proper name of it has slipped my mind (and I'll update you all with it soon), but as you see it resembles the West African dashiki top. I love everything about this top from the vibrant colors to the its thick texture, which is a way to tell the authenticity of African attire.

It's a little roomy on me (I believe it's for men) so I tucked it in a pair of retro jean high waist shorts to give it a vintage-like feel.

That's all for now, folks. Cute, simple, and straight to the point!

  4. I have never been to an event like that but I imagine it was fun. I love the outfit, especially the shirt. The purse really brings the outfit together.

I am from Burkina Faso, so I live for the Ivory Coast reference (dunno the name of the top though.)
