Look of the Day: Secret Garden 🌼💮💐

Happy spring! And natural new year! Although things in the world are going haywire, let's never forget to embrace sunshine and growth. That's definitely the theme of this look here. I visited the Chicago Botanical Garden (which is so not in the actual city of Chicago...but that's another topic for another time) and it's absolutely gorgeous! Couldn't visit without having a fabulous, floral themed photo
shoot too.

This floral, button down, short sleeved dress is everything dainty, feminine, elegant, classic, and everything else warm, beautiful, and ethereal. While it has no brand tag, it's a bit challenging to date the decade it's from. Certainly giving a 1950's aura, but it may be from the 1970's or 1980's. I'm not super familiar with 50's clothing as of yet, but it'd be pretty cool to find out if this beauty is from that era.

What I love about this dress is that you can dress it up or down, and it even has pockets! My timeless, going to a tea party look was completed with a vintage pair of J. Pliner slip on, open toe kitten heels, my favorite retro cateye shades, and a more modern touch with a Nicole Miller croc embossed handbag I got from a thrift store for ten bucks.

I think my most favorite part of this ensemble is the faux pearl cameo choker. I got it last summer at the Bantu Fest and it is everything! I've always adored cameo jewelry since I was a child. It originates way back into ancient Kemet but seems to be popularly attributed with Ancient Greece and Rome. The jewelry ranging from necklaces to rings typically shows an engraved image of a person with a side profile projected from a flat background. Definitely incorporating more of this into my wardrobe.

Gold toned and pearled jewelry to top the look. And green nails? Peak garden goddess goodness.

As we transition into the new season, even among what seems as chaos, let us remember that it takes rain to not only cleanse but to also grow and flourish.
