Look of the Day: Flirt Til It Hurt In A 00s Throwback Mini Skirt

Word on the streets is that it’s time to go back outside and I’m with this mission, safely of course! I’m on my early 2000’s fashion kick and I love it here. It’s just something about hot weather and a retro Y2K look that just goes together so well, especially in the summertime. Like c’mon. When you think of thesummer and good weather you’re definitely going to think of early 2000’s music videos and songs like “Put It On Me”, “I’m Real”, “What’s Luv?”.

Funny thing about this look? I had this early 2000’s Sharango Paris comic book mod skirt since 2005. Yes. I was very much about twelve years old when I first got that skirt from a north side boutique called Selections. I just never could get it right when it came to styling. I’m glad I never put it in the “giveaway pile” after all these years because I always knew I would come back to slay a look.

Coincidentally, I found that asymmetric Galoy vintage 00’s top a few years ago when I grabbed it on a random thrifting adventure. It wasn’t until playing around in my closet one night that it clicked to style the two pieces together. Finally! I always take inspiration from the music video vixens when I create a y2k look as well.

Mini skirts were all the rage in the early 2000’s, word to Trina’s verse on the “Right Thur” (Remix)

It’s such a staple throwback piece to have in your closet, especially one that’s denim.

I love the overall simplicity but retro nod this look has. Simple black hair, silver toned accessories with a hint of color. And can we talk about the Coach purse and Dolce shades? The essential cherry on top to this look because the of how popular these brands and pieces were back in the day, especially since brand logos were worn in abundance. It’s giving label whore couture.

What’s your favorite piece of clothing to wear from the 2000’s?
