I’ve had my eye on The Ordinary for a while now and finally decided to purchase a few items since they had free shipping and I needed some vitamin c anyway. 

Bedsides the Vitamin C, which came in a pure powder form, I also got Absorbyl Glycoside Solution 12% and Squalene Cleanser. Here’s the 4-1-1 on each item:

100% L-Abscoebic Acid Powder: Aka vitamin c that comes with a mini scooper. Vitamin C is great for brightening skin, removing dark spots, and evening skin tone. 

Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%: This is to be mixed with the vitamin c powder. While this has a vitamin c derivative, this is a water based serum that also helps brighten skin and targets uneven skin tone, antioxidant support, and signs of aging as stated in the description.

Squalene Cleanser: This cleanser removes makeup but also helps with hydration. 

I use the L-Absorbic Acid Powder mixed with the Absorbyl Glucoside Solution during the day. A little bit goes a long way, so there’s no need for overdoing it. So far, I’ve had a small breakout on my cheek, probably due to my skin being introduced to something new (I noticed something similar upon using a new retinol). There’s a slight tinging sensation from the powder. So far, I have no issues and I’ve yet to use the Squalene Cleanser. 

I’ll share an update on how I like the products after consistent use. 

Update: The vitamin c and glycoside is doing my skin so well! Skin looks brighter. I haven’t used it long enough to see the fading scaring but I’ll keep an update on that too. As for the squalene cleanser, it’s cool. I’ve used it a few times in double cleansing. It leaves no breakouts, no drying. Just something extra. 

 

Welcome to 2017 folks. I'm so happy to announce that this is my first company-sent product I'm reviewing, and it's from a Black owned business! If you're an avid reader of my blog, y'all should already know I'm a huge lover of all things natural from hair care to skin care. I was asked to review some body butter from What On Earth Cosmetics, an online skin care store based in Little Rock, Arkansas. This business was founded in 2016 by Anthony Patrick who became a vegan five years ago and wanted to create a plant based product using all-natural, vegan ingredients to aid in "healthy external maintenance." WOEC represents "Peace, Plants, and Prosperity".

I received the 8oz Grapefruit body butter a few weeks ago. It came packaged in a nice cardboard box surrounded by popcorn, and I ain't talkin' the kind you eat. A lovely thank you card that was given along with a few gift cards which is always special. The body butter comes in an 8oz glass jar and the scent is absolutely amazing. There's a sweet, tropical citrus smell with a mix of mango butter, coconut oil and what I assume to be grapefruit oil hence the name of the butter. The texture of the butter is thick, creamy and is super soft.

Ingredients: Unrefined raw mango butter, raw shea butter, avocado oil, almond oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, aloe vera gel, black castor oil. essential oils

Description: "This whipped butter is excellent for sealing moisture and will provide excellent shine. Use sparingly, a little goes a long way! For the best results use daily. *Great for dry skin, acne, and eczema- as well as an excellent moisturizer for Afro's, Dreadloc's, and other natural hair styles."

Pros:

• Amazing citrus smell
• Soft, creamy, buttery texture

• Very moisturizing
• Can also be used on hair

This is an excellent body butter. The scent is great and not overwhelming, it keeps my skin super soft, and there's great communication with the owner. Plus there's information on the What On Earth website that advises customers on how to store the butter I definitely recommend this product and I'm going to purchase a glass.

Hands down, Shea Moisture is one of my favorite natural hair and body brands. Not only is this brand affordable, but also has high quality, organic, vegam. gluten free ingredients. First off, I love the prices of Shea Moisture soaps, plus they always have Buy 1 Get 1 Free or Buy 1 Get 1 50% Off sales at Walgreens stores, CVS, and Target. I also like that Shea Moisture has several different collections, each one serving a special purpose for body and/or skincare.

I picked up Shea Moisture's Coconut & Hibiscus Shea Butter Soap from the Coconut & Hibiscus collection. The collection aims to "brighten, firm, and tone" skin. Secondly, I'm digging the size of the bar. It's on the chunky side and lasts a good while. The scent of this soap is a subtle coconut and hibiscus smell, but not too strong. However there is a faint "doughy" smell to it, perhaps it's the mushroom ingredient. If you're a person who's very sensitive to smell, you may want to try another one of Shea Moisture's soaps. The soap creates a great lather and does a fine job at keeping my skin smooth.

This weekend my mom gave me four jars of c. Booth body products. She ordered some online and gave me a few containers since she had so much. Like myself, she's very into natural soaps, lotions, and things of that nature. How generous, mother! I never really used c. Booth's products, so I decided that I might as well try 'em out and make a review to share with you all.

c. Booth is under the Freeman Beauty line which has been around since 1976 and carries several other lines of hair and skin products. So here I have two body butters and two scrubs: Egyptian Argan Oil Body Butter, Italian Olive Oil Body Butter, All-Over Body Sea Salt Scrub, and Ginger Sugar Body Scrub. Each container is 8oz and states that the products are "FREE OF PARABENS, SULFATES, MINERAL OIL, PETROLATUM". The prices for these products are pretty decent as well; $7.99 for body butters and $8.99 for scrubs.
